A hearing with the FEI Tribunal in the case of alleged abuse, involving Madeleine Brugman (NED), Andrew Hoy (AUS), and the horse Sundancer 6 at CCI 3* Barroca d’Alva (POR), 5 to 9 March 2008, was held today. The hearing took place at the FEI headquarters in Lausanne.

Apart from the three-member panel of the FEI Tribunal, the hearing involved the two defendants – Madeleine Brugman and Andrew Hoy – their legal counsels, and several witnesses in person, by video and telephone conference. The FEI was represented by members of its Legal Department.

The FEI Tribunal is scheduling a telephone conference next week to allow the parties to complete their closing arguments as time did not allow following the witness testimony. The Tribunal should issue its decision within 30 days of this teleconference.

The case was referred to the FEI Tribunal by the Ground Jury and Appeal Committee officiating at CCI 3* Barroca d’Alva after it was reported that Madeleine Brugman, trained by Andrew Hoy, had used spiked boots on her horse during the warm up of the show jumping phase.
