The ESP Fall I show closed out on Sunday with the $24,999 Score At The Top Grand Prix in the Van Kampen Covered Arena. A total of 20 competitors challenged the track, designed by Jasen Shelley, before Santiago Lambre of Wellington, FL and Mick Jagger rode into the winner’s circle with a 33.794-second jump-off. Joao Eduardo Ferreira De Carvalho of Delray Beach, FL piloted Karina Rocha Mello’s Volt Du Thot through the timers in 34.247 seconds to claim second place. Juan Andres Rodriguez Silva of Wellington, FL captured the yellow ribbon aboard RMF Echo, owned by Rushy Marsh Farm, LLC, after they completed the jump-off in 34.687 seconds.
While several riders made it to the second round, only a few combinations were able to go double-clear. Lambre gave credit to his horse for the win, Mick Jagger who is a newer mount. “He arrived just back in July from Mexico, and this is only his second Grand Prix with me. He’s a very good horse, very scope-y. I hope he’s going to be a good one for me this winter season.”
Although rain caused the Grand Prix to move into the Covered Arena, Lambre actually commented that he preferred that for the competition. “Mick Jagger jumped inside [the indoor arena] a few weeks ago, so for me it wasn’t an issue. I like the indoor because I can turn faster, especially with this horse. Sometimes when they’re out on the grass field they get too open and you can’t be as quick with the turns.”
Jumper Highlights
The $1,950 Equiline Medium Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic followed with Katlynn Butler of Mechanicsville, VA taking home top honors aboard her mount MTM Catoki’s Clever after a 41.85-second jump-off. Vanessa Hood of Wellington, FL and Casstina H, owned by Take Two LLC, rode to a second-place victory with a 46.646-second jump-off. Laura Rubinate of North Palm Beach, FL clinched third place after stopping the timers at 44.48 seconds with four faults aboard her entry Platinum.
Elizabeth Suddath of Land O Lakes, FL rose to the top of the leaderboard with Super Star in the $2,500 Equiline Low Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic after a 39.767-second jump-off. Madeline Thatcher of Bluffdale, UT claimed the red ribbon after a 42.067-second jump-off aboard Celine, owned by Pony Lane Farm. Charlise Casas of Lake Forest, IL and Mustique VZ, owned by Always Faithful Equine LLC, followed with a time of 51.111 seconds and four faults to claim third place.
The $1,500 M&S Children’s/Adult Jumper Classic awarded the blue ribbon to Lawson Whitaker of Ocala, FL and Finisterra once they completed the jump-off in 37.241 seconds. Nicole Nunez of Wellington, FL rode Lorenza Jmen, owned by Julia Bersoza, through the timers in 39.601 seconds to capture second place. Lawson Whitaker returned for the third-place ribbon aboard Brownie and Cream after a 41.922-second jump-off.
Over in the International Ring, the $250 CCTV Agent .85m Classic took place with Juliana Hotchkiss of Hollywood, FL and Eden Koeth’s Remington taking home top honors after a 37.893-second course. Nicolas Cubillos of Miami, FL clinched second place with His Lordship, owned by Golden Point Partners LLC, and a time of 38.6 seconds. Receiving the yellow ribbon for her efforts was Addison Buetel of Delray Beach, FL and Consil, owned by Alexa Rodriquez, after completing the jump-off in 41.59 seconds.
On Thursday, competition on the Derby Field opened up with the $3,500 CabanaCoast 1.35m Open Stake. Kim Farlinger of Wellington, FL and Sher-Al Farm Inc’s Conreu stopped the timers at 45.82 seconds with four faults to claim victory, while Hercules Gadelha of Wellington, FL rode Canturion Das Umburanas, owned by Bonne Chance Farm LLC, captured second-place honors in 48.477 seconds and with eight faults. Santiago Lambre finished in third aboard Mick Jagger after a time of 49.289 seconds on the course.
The $10,000 Bainbridge Companies 1.40m Open Stake named Willie Tynan of Wellington, FL and Ballinteskin, owned by MDM Equestrian Group LLC, the winners on Friday after they completed the jump-off in 45.026 seconds. Gabriel De Matos Machado of Lexington, KY claimed second place aboard RF Most Wanted, owned by Raylyn Farms Inc, with a 47.19-second jump-off. Alejandro Karolyi of Wellington, FL rode Monica Carrera’s Lincourt Gino to third in 51.637 seconds and with four faults.
Hunter Highlights
On Friday afternoon on the Derby Field Annex, the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby presented by Score At The Top took place with Amy Momrow of Wellington, FL and Monty Kelly’s Victorino Z once again claiming top honors. The pair received a final score of 176, while Molly Sewell of Wellington, FL rode Lisa Hunt’s entry Raise the Bar to a combined score of 170 to clinch second place. Sewell also captured the yellow ribbon with a score of 166 aboard Story, owned by Kimberly Dunn.
A total of 18 combinations tested the first round with the top 12 returning for the handy round. When asked about the course Momrow commented, “The high options all came at the end of the course, which is a little different, sometimes they’re mixed throughout. It was a more typical derby course this week too, very long in the first round which is nice. Victorino definitely used the whole field since we’ve had a bit of a better weather streak here which was great. It was just good to be back out here again!”
Emma Vandenhouten of Plantation, FL and her entry Decision Made jumped to the top of the leaderboard in the $1,000 Junior/Amateur Owner Hunter Classic after receiving a final score of 173. Isabel Beltran of Jupiter, FL rode Sazerac, owned by IMB of Jupiter LLC, to a second-place finish with a 170-combined score. Vandenhouten returned to the winner’s podium with her mount Meaningful and a final score of 167.
The $500 Pony Hunter Classic was championed by Taylor Cawley of Wellington, FL and Heaven’s Gift, owned by Glade Run Farm LLC, after they received a combined score of 166. Lauren Gee of Valdosta, GA rode Eastside, owned by Aquitaine Equine, to a second-place victory after a 165-combined score, while Cawley returned to accept the yellow ribbon aboard Falling Moon Huckleberry, owned by Glade Run Farm LLC, with a final score of 164.
Hunter Champions
Kelsey Cruciotti of Bluffdale, UT championed the Adult Amateur Hunter division presented by Resilient Fitness with Pony Lane Farm’s Coronado, while Katlynn Butler of Mechanicsville, VA and MTM Avanti, owned by Nina Butler, finished in reserve.
The Children’s Hunter division presented by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Health Specialty Center saw Riley McKesson of Wellington, FL claim the champion ribbon aboard her mount Socialite, while Faith Schuttemeyer of Boca Raton, FL and Gilles, owned by Black Stone Equestrian LLC, captured the reserve champion.
Molly Sewell and Inverness, owned by Leslie Campbell, came out on top in the Performance Hunter 3’3” division, while Chrystal Knight of Wellington, FL rode Leah Patipa’s In Luck to a reserve finish.
The Small Pony Hunter division presented by Dover Saddlery awarded the champion ribbon to Taylor Cawley of Wellington, FL for her efforts aboard Falling Moon Huckleberry, owned by Glade Run Farm LLC, while Lauren Gee returned to the winner’s circle with Tina Turner, owned by Team Weston LLC, for reserve.
