Jump Canada has named Brain Gingras of Edmonton, AB, as the Owner of the Year for 2012.
Gingras and his wife Patricia’s interest in riding started about 25-years-ago when they were looking for a sport their whole family could do together. Along with their three children, they purchased Know, a very talented off-the-track Thoroughbred, who was selected for them by a local trainer. Following several years of riding and training, Patricia became a successful hunter rider, their son a horse vet and daughter, a talented jumper rider.
In 2009, Gingras’ daughter Elizabeth started to ride with Canadian Olympian Jill Henselwood. This new partnership forged the way for Henselwood to pursue her career with the Canadian Show Jumping Team riding George, owned by B Gingras Equestrian Limited, at the 2011 Pan American Games and the 2012 Olympics, where Henselwood and George along with the rest of the Canadian Equestrian Team finished fifth in the team competition.
Riding IV Ever, George and Avensis 4, Henselwood has been a force to be reckoned with each time she enters the Grand Prix ring. In September, Henselwood and George finished in second place in the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix at HITS-on-the-Hudson.
“We are very pleased to be named as the 2012 Jump Canada Owner of the Year,” said Gingras. “It is quite an honour to be included in such exclusive company as the previous winners of this award.”
Brian Gingras was honoured as the 2012 Jump Canada Owner of the Year in a special ceremony during the Jump Canada Hall of Fame Gala held Sunday, November 4, in Toronto, ON. He was also recognized during a special ceremony held prior to the start of the Hickstead FEI World Cup Grand Prix at Toronto’s Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Horse Show on November 7.
