Three-time Olympic gold medallist Anky van Grunsven has announced that she has withdrawn herself and her horses Salinero and Painted Black from participation in the Dutch team’s World Equestrian Games selection trials. Van Grunsven’s top horse, the 16-year old Hanoverian gelding, Salinero, bruised his withers in his stall and the injury is taking longer to heal than anticipated. Her second mount, the KWPN stallion Painted Black, is also recovering from a small injury and has been having “up-and-down performances” of late.
