Equine Canada (EC) extends deepest sympathies to the friends and family of the late Edmond “Eddie” Creed, who passed away on August 12, 2015 at the age of 94.
Creed, who resided in Schomberg, ON, was a long-time supporter and mentor to many in the equestrian industry, including 2008 Canadian Olympic Show Jumping Champion Eric Lamaze.
Creed helped Lamaze get his start in show jumping, purchasing famed mount Cagney for the then up-and-coming rider, and remaining a strong supporter of Lamaze throughout his career.
“Eddie leaves behind an incredible legacy in the horse community and beyond,” said Equine Canada President, Al Patterson. “He had an unsurpassed zest for life, a strong and unwavering love of family, and a passion for making the world a better place. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.”
Creed passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Edie, his children Simone, Jack, Tommy, Wendy, Dodie, and Donna, as well as 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A memorial of Creed’s life will be held at his favourite place, DonEddy Farm in Schomberg, ON, at 11 a.m. on Sunday, August 16. In lieu of donations, Creed’s family asks instead that well-wishers honour his example of accomplishment by building even stronger, loving bonds with their own families.
