Palgrave, ON – It was a successful weekend for Cornerstone’s Spring In To Dressage at the Caledon Equestrian Park. With more than three hundred horses competing and over a thousand dressage tests performed over the weekend, it was said to be one of, if not the biggest dressage show ever held in Canada.
Friday’s Grand Prix test was won by Tina Konyot of North Stonnington, CT and Calecto, an 11 year old Danish Warmblood stallion by Come Back II. The pair’s winning score was 69.362%. Belinda Trussell of Stouffville, ON and Robyn Eames’ Anton placed second with a 68.191%, and Gran Gesto owned by Brinc, Ltd & Anne and John Welsh placed third with Jacqueline Brooks of Mount Albert, ON in the irons.
Peter Gray of Orangeville, ON aboard his own Collo 5 was victorious in the Intermediaire Freestyle, scoring a 70.250%. Gray is a former upper-level event rider, and Chef d’Equipe for the Canadian Eventing Team, who is now enjoying much success in the Dressage ring.
The show was also a Young Riders trial for the North American Young Riders Championships, to be held later this summer at the Kentucky Horse Park. Jaime Holland of Caledon aboard her mare Fleurina won the Young Rider Freestyle competition with a score of 67.875%.
The Hunter and Jumper competition returns to the Caledon Equestrian Park this week with the Classic @ Palgrave Phase 2. The competition runs from Wednesday – Sunday, and features a $10,000 Grand Prix held Sunday June 14th, at 2pm.
