Sunshine again, happy happy happy. The OTTBs are so incredibly sweet. They are both really friendly cuddly people, they are very happy with their career change and now that they are home they will go onto a very definite program. Anne Marie has put dibs on Rummy and nobody else gets a look in. She seems to find time out of thin air to take him hacking, he is a top class hack now, reliable and well mannered. He will join the baby jumpers soon on Sundays and begin his big boy training. I will keep you informed of his progress. Benny will probably have to work right along beside him although we may not push him to compete yet as he is only four. It would be fun to take him to a Young Event Horse something in the States this year. I am not sure they still run in Canada.
I had to go car shopping. My car spontaneously combusted outside my house last summer. Thank goodness it wasn’t anywhere near the barn! There seem to have been an awful lot of barn fires this winter. I don’t know if there have been more than usual or if the internet just brings them to our attention more readily, but the number of barn fires this winter has been very distressing.
Selena and Tori are also enjoying nice weather in Pennsylvania. I hope the sunny Pennsylvania weather lasts over the weekend. Tori and Bentley do their dressage and show jumping on Saturday and cross country on the Sunday. Selena has had bad luck at the Spring Plantation and has competed in downpours twice.
Thank goodness for live results. I spend my weekends glued to my phone or my tablet keeping up with what’s happening at the horse shows. Woody is enjoying the hills. He is in fine form and looks ready to rock at Rolex. These three weeks are all about hill work, walking hills, trotting hills and galloping hills. He is fit already, but Rolex’s rolling terrain really takes it out of them and the horses running there need to be able to access hills. He has been really consistent this year and seems to have matured into a really trustworthy and reliable competitor. I am ‘almost’ looking forward to watching him at Rolex (I get nervous). We would not be going to Rolex without the continued support of our owners and sponsors.
It’s lovely to have Anne Marie home, albeit only for a short time. She has been a very busy bee since she got back and has been in great demand to clip horses here there and everywhere. It’s an odd time of the year to be so busy clipping but it seems like there are a few horses around that are too furry to start competing and Anne Marie is their saviour. She is a very professional clipper, our horses all look stunning when she has finished with them, no wonder she is kept busy clipping horses at all the barns in the area.
This is a montage of the three great cross country rides that Selena had at The Fork. Zephyr in the one star, Derg Boru in the two star and Foxwood High in the three star.
