I was planning to post this week with some reflections on the total exoneration of Jock Paget, but two things got in the way: Pippa Cuckson has already posted her first blog on this magazine’s website and commandingly addressed the issues on that very topic; and Princess Haya has astonished me (and probably at least few others) by announcing she has made a finally-final decision not to stand for a third term as FEI Prez.
I haven’t yet fully digested this bit of gobsmackery (I’m still cleaning up the coffee I spit onto my computer when I saw the FEI release this morning), but I’ll be back in the next day or two with some well considered thoughts on HRH’s decision, on what that means for the FEI and equestrian sport, as well as the possible need for the FEI to invest in its own Pope-mobile for safely transporting the next President.
