The eventer rode to honour her former student who died in a tragic accident, and raise awareness of the fund that bears her name.

The award in Zara's memory will be presented annually to a young Ontario rider who exhibits a passion for eventing and commitment to their horse.

Young eventer Zara Buren, 14, of Oakville died when her horse got stuck in a bog while out riding in the Flamborough area.
