Following the fatal accident, involving Mr Kim Hyung-Chil (KOR), which occurred yesterday 7 December 2006 during the Eventing competition at the 15th Asian Games in Doha (QAT), a full mandatory investigation was conducted.

A report from the Technical Delegate for Eventing, Andrew Griffiths (GBR), examining all aspects of the tragedy in respect to the course and conditions was presented. Reporting together with Oliver Holberg (GER), technical footing expert appointed by the Doha Asian Games Organising Committee (DAGOC) and the FEI, Mr Griffiths stated:

“The 11th competitor, Mr Hyung Chil Kim of Korea, fell at the eighth obstacle on the Cross Country Course during the second day of the Eventing competition. At the time of the accident, weather conditions were stable, and it was not raining.
