Catalogue and specific conditions for sport horses and ponies

The catalogue will be available in print as well as in digital format from the ARQANA website (www.arqana.com) where each stallion will be presented with a factsheet including its pedigree, photos and videos.

Trying out the stallions with a sporting potential will be strictly monitored by France Haras. One single location for all competition stallions will be set up in August at the end of their covering season and will be selected by France-Haras in mid June as a result of an ongoing consultation. Veterinary records appropriate to the discipline of each stallion, both in the breeding shed and those competing will meanwhile be available for buyers at ARQANA.

In order not to disturb the sporting progress at the highest level for Padock du Plessis, or the return to competition at the highest level for Mylord Carthago, these two stallions will be stationed in their respective riders until they are sold. No tests will be permitted for these two stallions.

Mylord Carthago, the legendary French stallion, silver medalist at the World Championships in 2010 and the European Championships in 2011, will be sold on the international market with the obligation to compete in French colours until the end of his sporting career.

An auction which forms part of the State’s withdrawal from standing stallions in France

Established in January 2011, the GIP France-Haras was charged with the task of transferring public stallion duties in France (state owned stallions and reproduction services) to the private sector. Over three years France-Haras has selected the best stallions among its roster. Today only the best from the original stock is left among all the racing and competition horse stock.

The complete dispersal of the stallion roster has been entrusted to ARQANA

In a particularly competitive environment and thanks to its strong historic sales background, ARQANA has become the leading racehorse sales auction house in France and the second at European level. At the heart of four purpose-built and functional establishments, the agency organises 18 sales each year (including eight through ARQANA Trot, its counterpart in the trotting world, allowing 3600 horses to change hands for a total turnover of approximately €124 million. The agency benefits from a competent team of 35 personnel and a network of 13 foreign representatives positioned in all the major equine countries in the world.

Following a nationwide tender, ARQANA was chosen to represent the interests of France-Haras and to organise the sale of its thoroughbred and sporthorses of which it has the full or joint ownership. The dates and locations of each sale have been added to events tailored to each individual market in order to fully meet demand. For the stallions in joint ownership, France-Haras will validate the technicalities of the sale with each shareholder.
