Equestrian Canada (EC) is continuing its commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and high-quality experience for all who participate in equestrian sport across our country. As you begin to set your goals for the 2022 competitive season, EC is working hard to have the programs and infrastructure needed to maintain a competitive playing field where everyone can achieve their best.
With sport licence renewals opening on November 15, 2021, EC wants everyone to understand the important updates that advance Safe Sport principles and ensure you are ready for the 2022 season.
Safe Sport Training
New for sport licencing in 2022, all competitive athletes, owners, and officials are required to complete two EC Safe Sport training sessions, EC Concussion Awareness and Fostering Healthy Environments found in the ECampus link within your MyEC account. The training courses are provided FREE of charge to all sport license holders but must be completed no later than March 31, 2022 to remain a member in good standing. Coaches have safe sport training as part of their status program certification.
Coach Status
Holding an EC Coach Status will be required for all coaches at EC sanctioned competitions in 2022. The Coach Status Program remains one of our top priorities to ensure the safety of our sport. The program elevates the standards for equestrian coaching and offers two statuses – registered and licensed. Holding one of these statuses means EC has screened the coach and verified that training and insurance are current. If you haven’t already, we encourage all coaches to apply for or upgrade their status today!
A More Inclusive Sport
As part of 2022 updates, voluntary demographic questions have been added to MyEC profiles. This information will help us better understand our community and assist EC in identifying areas for more inclusive representation in our sport and is also reported to our funding partners. This information remains private to profiles and when reviewing the responses, only aggregate data will be tallied and reported.

PTSO Renewal Reminder
Don’t forget that before completing your EC renewal, you must first renew with your Provincial/Territorial Sport Organization (PTSO). In some cases, it may take a few business days for your PTSO to process the renewal before your EC renewal can be completed.

All applicants who purchase their 2022 licence by Dec. 31, 2021, will be entered into a draw to win one of five t-shirts from Tokyo 2020 signed by the Canadian Olympic Equestrian Team. Winners will be notified and sent their shirts in January 2022.
