Caledon OPP have arrested 65-year-old Thomas Hughes of Caledon, Ontario, on a total of 47 sexual assault and child pornography charges. The accused has ties to local equestrian scene and police suspect there may be additional victims as their ‘historic investigation’ dates back to incidents in 2011 which continued for several years.
Hughes has been charged with:
- Nine counts of communicate with anyone under 18 years for purpose of obtaining sexual services;
- Five counts of invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age;
- Five counts of makes, prints, publishes or possesses for the purpose of publication any child pornography;
- Nine counts of procuring under 18 years;
- Three counts of Sexual assault;
- Six counts of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age;
- Four counts of sexual exploitation, and
- Six counts of sexual interference.
Hughes was held for a bail hearing and will appear in Orangeville court at a later date. More details will be released as they become available. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Caledon OPP Major Crime Unit at 905-584-2241.
